My thought of the day today is 'Self Care'. This will mean different things to different people. It's been a bit of a buzz phrase recently, along with Mental Health Awareness, and I do believe the two go hand in hand. It's not only about mental health though. Physical health suffers as well when we do not take adequate care of our own emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
I've been on a bit of a journey myself; I resigned from full time paid employment to pursue my passion, which is yoga, massage and holistic health. Ironic then, that I have realised that I have been sacrificing my own health, in terms of cardio fitness, meditation and my personal yoga practice in the never-ending task of marketing my business.
To say I don't have a marketing strategy would suggest that I had an inkling of how to create such a thing. Mine has been a scattergun approach that has meant I really don't know what works and what doesn't. I do know that I don't have enough followers on my Facebook page to be able to market my classes and services on my page alone, so I use various Facebook Groups, an Instagram account and my website, all of which are taking up far too much of my non-contact time. The alternative is to pay someone to do it, and this is a Catch 22 situation. I can't afford to pay someone, and I can't really afford not to.
Meanwhile I am sitting here with my laptop warming my thighs when I should be out...running or cycling or at the very least walking my extremely patient dog. (Full disclosure: she's really not that patient).
So- my mission is to take care of my needs whilst still managing this minefield called marketing. Right, enough of that, I'm taking the dog down to the river.
